Professional Consultation, Workshops and Seminars
Increasingly in our professional practice we are seeing youth struggling with severe behavioral problems, chronic trauma, debilitating emotional distress, learning difficulties and families struggling to meet their children’s emotional needs. Children ages 3 to 18 are increasingly being diagnosed with major mental illnesses and learning disabilities and prescribed powerful psychiatric drugs. Our traditional treatment models and therapeutic techniques may leave us challenged to assist these severely distressed families to significantly improve and heal on a long term, holistic level.
Laurie’s unique, engaging consultation, workshops and seminars guide participants beyond major mental illness paradigms and popular treatment models. She helps participants bring into focus the biological and psychological roots of children’s behavioral, emotional and learning distress. Her services to you will combine a century of scientific research on human attachment, learning theory and the neurological effects of child trauma and will show you how to apply it to treating today’s most challenging children and their families.
With an interactive, energetic approach, Laurie A. Couture will help you to start applying simple, deeply life-changing principles immediately to help families become closer and emotionally healthier. You will also be equipped with the resources needed to comprehensively assist families in healing children’s trauma and learning challenges in a brain-based, successful manner.
Laurie provides professional consultation, workshops, trainings and seminars for all mental health, social work, education and medical professionals who work with children ages 0-18 with behavioral, emotional and/or learning problems. These services include information for addressing the special needs of adoptive, kinship and step families and children in foster care.
Discover that children’s behavioral, emotional and learning difficulties are natural alarms signaling that aspects of the child’s environment are not meeting their basic physical, emotional or neurological needs.
Identify the surprising parenting and learning conditions that children’s brains require for mental and emotional health and for optimal learning.
Understand the prominent role Post traumatic Stress Disorder, insecure parent-child attachment and developmentally inappropriate learning environments play in the majority of our young client’s symptoms and the popular diagnoses they are receiving.
Revisit basic human attachment research, learning theory and child brain development and integrate these principles in order to formulate dynamic, comprehensive treatment plans that assist clients in demonstrating genuine improvements.
Differentiate between services that can actually exacerbate the distress of children and families and which treatments facilitate holistic, long-term healing.
Learn respectful, refreshing, little-known discipline principles that you can help parents apply to facilitate responsibilities, boundaries and restitution for the entire family.
Examine the special treatment needs of adoptive families, kinship adoptions, foster children and children with Reactive Attachment Disorder and apply the knowledge gained in this seminar to confidently offer hope and scaffold healing for this exceptional population.
Implement and utilize the simple, yet life-altering information gained in the seminar immediately with your clients, the very next day!
